John Mallory

As Sales Manager at HubStarr Logistics, John Mallory leads business development, account management, and customer relationships — while never straying far from the warehouse floor. With 16 years in logistics, John believes the best sales leaders understand every moving part of the operation. Whether building strategic partnerships or operating forklifts, clamp trucks, and reach trucks when needed, he leads from the front. His experience working under Phil Starr sharpened his operational expertise, while mentorship from Thomas J. Lipton strengthened his strategic sales and business development approach — giving him a rare blend of hands-on knowledge and high-level business insight.

Full Bio

Raised in Des Moines, Iowa, John credits his strong work ethic to growing up working alongside his father in the family restaurant and gas station. That early exposure to responsibility shaped his belief that credibility comes from experience, not titles. His advice to anyone entering the industry is simple: don’t be afraid to get your hands dirty. The more you understand the day-to-day pressure, equipment, and timelines, the stronger your leadership and relationships will be. Logistics is relationship-driven — and your word matters.

Most people know John as HubStarr’s Sales Manager, but few know he once played professional football right out of high school in the USFL semi-pro league for the Des Moines Knights. Competing at that level taught him discipline, teamwork, and how to perform under pressure — qualities he now brings to every client relationship and every opportunity to help HubStarr grow.
